Prometheus is not round, but is more of a "potato-shaped" moon. It is about 145 by 85 by 62 km (90 x 53 x 39 miles) in size. It orbits Saturn at a distance of 139,353 km (86,590 miles) from the planet's center.

Consider the Prometheus is capable of over 2400W output. How many 2400W automatic antenna tuners are there on the market? The problem becomes one of obtaining suitable high voltage capacitors which are not normally available. Also circulating currents are so large that if using relay style antenna tuners the contacts can fuse (weld) under some conditions which is a reliability issue. Further, a 0.2dB insertion loss (typical of a VERY well designed tuner) equates to a 5% power loss or 120W at 2400W output. So the 2400W amplifier can now only safely deliver 2280W.

The Prometheus Desktop Client typically operates in connection with a Prometheus BI server across a LAN. However, the client is fully capable of communicating with a Prometheus BI server across the Internet. The design of the Prometheus BI client/server technology means that communication across the Internet provides acceptable performance on line speeds as low as 128 Kbps. Thus the system works well over ISDN or ADSL connections.

Prometheus was developed over 36 months, including intensive alpha and beta testing stages at GW and later at Vanderbilt University. During this time, Prometheus was rapidly adopted by faculty at both campuses because of its ease of use and its capacity to help faculty manage course content. Today at GW more than 85% of the student body uses Prometheus in over 1,500 courses.
