Prometheus is an ambivalent figure. He contains two conflicting aspects of the divine helper: fire was his gift to mankind, in some tales even life itself; but the price of technological advance was the grief and destruction typical of the Iron Age. Two steps forward and one step back: compared with the Golden Age, perhaps three steps backwards. Yet Prometheus remains an appealing symbol, the personification of the unconquerable will opposing greater power, forever chained and suffering but confident of the ultimate triumph of his cause.

The Prometheus was the first deep-space battleship built by Earth. The ship was operated by the U.S. Air Force, and its crew consisted of Air Force personnel. Operationally, Prometheus fell under the purview of the Office of Homeworld Security.

Prometheus had not only stolen fire for men; he had ... arranged that they should get the best part of any animal sacrificed and the gods the worst. He cut up a great ox and wrapped the good eatable parts in the hide, disguising them further by piling up the entrails on top. Beside this heap he put another of all of the bones, dressed up with cunning and covered with shining fat, and bade Zeus choose between them. Zeus took up the white fat and was angry when he saw the bones craftily tricked out. But he had made his choice and he had to abide by it. Thereafter only fat and bones were burned to the gods upon their altars. Men kept the good meat for themselves.

In February 2007, Prometheus performed as part of Moshcore 07 at Club Soda in Montreal as well as the Shennan GrindFest in Meyersberg Ontario. To top that all off, 2008 will see the advent of the new Born of Fire demo which was self-produced.

To compound his crime, Prometheus had stolen fire from Zeus and given it to the mortals in their dark caves. The gift of divine fire unleashed a flood of inventiveness, productivity and, most of all, respect for the immortal gods in the rapidly developing mortals. The drama closes with Hermes' announcement of Prometheus' full punishment because Prometheus has refused to divulge his prophecy to Zeus. Note now that Zeus punishes him not for stealing fire but for this refusal. Has Prometheus crossed a line so that h e now shows himself to be excessively prideful and foolishly stubborn?
