Mitsubishi jumped into the circa-$3000 1080p projector game today, rolling out its LVP-HC6000 that adds a couple of tricks to the Epson Powerlite and Panasonic PT-AE100U projectors against which it might compete. Although it has a face only a mother could love, the image it projects on the screen will be probably be a lot prettier than its countenance. Mitsubishi's bragging about some pretty impressive specs, too.more

Epson America has recently launched its PowerLite 1815p Projectors for powerful and easy presentations in all settings. The new Projector by Epson is built on 3LCD technology for delivering vibrant images along with advanced PC-Free Capabilities to Corporate Markets and Higher-Education areas.
Epson "In addition to providing tremendous image quality, Epson projectors have certainly made our lives much easier," said Don Franken, executive director, MethodFest. "The projectors are so easy to setup and use, they basically operate themselves, which enables us to focus more of our attention on other technical aspects of the festival."
Epson's new PowerLite projectors use the latest generation of High Aperture Epson 3LCD technology, featuring a three-chip engine that delivers natural color and more intense, sharper images. The solid-state optical engine works without a moving color wheel, producing precise color reproduction with full time color, and detailed video and data images that are crisp and rainbow-free.

8mmSuper8flipped1C.jpg (77579 bytes) Most of the projectors here are excellent to use for transferring film to video, but none have the capability of transferring the image to video through a line output. You must use a video camera to take a picture of the projected image if you plan to use the projector for video transfer.
Panasonic PT-AX-100 projector Some projectors have serious warranty clauses that limit how much you can use the projector without voiding your warranty. Others can cause "Rainbows" whereby the colours seem to break up, especially on moving images or when you move your head while looking at the screen.
