BET Event Productions is in charge of coordinating the talent, marketing the event and facilitating the daily performances. The event is being marketed through radio promos and print campaigns in major U.S. and South African markets. BeBe Winans' will be recording a live CD during the festival. Television promotions will include spots on BET, BET International, BET on Jazz and VH1 Classic. The event will be video-taped for a future programming special to be televised throughout the United States, Africa and Europe.

On Monday, August 6, BET Event Productions will hold a special VIP press reception to announce the first annual Durban Jazz Festival, the first major jazz festival to be developed with the City of Durban. Dignitaries from the entertainment industry and political arena are scheduled to attend. Special guests include BeBe Winans and representatives of the co-sponsors of the jazz festival: Durban Africa, South African Tourism, Kwa-Zulu Natal Tourism, the Three Cities Group hotel chain, South African Airways and The Embassy of the Republic of South Africa.
