This pro-privatization site contains some useful information on the number and location of private prisons, as well as links to other sites maintained by private prison supporters. The site’s content should be held strongly suspect, as its author, Charles Thomas, was found to be in conflict of interest after accepting a large consulting fee from the Corrections Corporation of America.
The ECA working paper mentioned earlier argues forcefully that broadening ownership is vital for the long-term success of privatization in Africa. "Broadening local participation in privatization satisfies national aspirations. It can ... activate political acceptance of privatization and, ultimately, it can boost domestic savings."

AFGE thanks Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) and nine of her colleagues for signing on to a letter that calls for cutting off funding for privatization reviews in the Department of Labor (DoL). The letter, which was sent to Chairman Tom Harkin (D-IA) and Ranking Member Arlen Specter (R-PA) of the Senate Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Subcommittee, was signed by Senators Edward Kennedy (D-MA), Richard Durbin (D-IL), Christopher Dodd (D-CT), Ben Cardin (D-MD), Barack Obama (D-IL), Hilary Clinton (D-NY), Jeff Bingaman (D-NM), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), and Bob Casey (D-PA).

Air Force Privatization Support Contract Jones Lang LaSalle [I]s pleased to announce the release of the AETC Group II housing privatization project's Request for Proposal (RFP). The project was delayed due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina but is now back on schedule. A total of 2,338 housing units will be privatized at six bases: Columbus AFB, MS; Goodfellow AFB, TX; Laughlin AFB, TX; Maxwell AFB, AL; Randolph AFB, TX; and Vance AFB, OK . No longer included as a part of the AETC Group II housing privatization project is Keesler AFB, MS.
