Princeton is a member of The Leadership Alliance, a consortium of 33 institutions of higher learning dedicated to increasing diversity in doctoral programs and on college and university faculties. The Alliance collaborates in a number of programs, from undergraduate research, to faculty development, to national symposia, to increase the participation of historically underrepresented groups in higher education. The Summer Research Early Identification Program (SR-EIP) is the keystone of Princeton's participation in the Alliance.

As president of Princeton, Wilson launched his first reform crusade—to build a university that would produce leaders and statesmen. The first problem was to get rid of the upper-class eating clubs. “The side-shows are swallowing up the circus,” he remarked. The second was to establish a stronger graduate college.

Trevor Dawes, Circulation Services Director, is the first Princeton librarian chosen to participate in the Frye Leadership Institute, which was established to develop leaders in college and university libraries and information technology in the 21st century. Trevor will attend an intensive two-week program at Emory University in June in which leadership challenges stemming from the growing complexity of higher education will be explored. Trevor will create a year-long practicum for himself on some aspect of digital media and pedagogy. About the Frye Institute

Princeton has six undergraduate residential colleges, each housing approximately 500 freshmen, sophomores, and a handful of junior and senior resident advisers. Each college consists of a set of dormitories, a dining hall, a variety of other amenities — such as study spaces, libraries, performance spaces, and darkrooms — and a collection of administrators and associated faculty. Two colleges, Wilson College and Forbes College (formerly Princeton Inn College), date to the 1970s; three others, Rockefeller, Mathey, and Butler Colleges, were created in 1983 following the Committee on Undergraduate Residential Life (CURL) report suggesting colleges as a solution to a perception of fragmented campus social life. The construction of Whitman College, the university's sixth, was completed in 2007.
