In stand-alone ecclesiastical provinces, the Primate is the metropolitan archbishop of the province. In national churches composed of several ecclesiastical provinces, the Primate will be senior to the metropolitan archbishops of the various provinces, and may ... be a metropolitan archbishop. In those churches which do not have a tradition of archiepiscopacy, the Primate is a bishop styled "Primus" (in the case of the Scottish Episcopal Church, "Presiding Bishop", "President-Bishop", "Prime Bishop" or simply "Primate". In the case of the Episcopal Church in the United States, which is composed of several ecclesiastical provinces, there is a Presiding Bishop who is its Primate, but the individual provinces are not led by metropolitans.
Primate Technologies, Inc. (P-Tech), a supplier of advanced software technologies for electric utilities, has developed GridGuardian to assist utilities in assuring reliable Energy Management System (EMS) Operations. In response to the North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC) readiness audit performed at LG&E Energy, NERC identified an Example of Excellence they wished to share with the industry. GridGuardian was the solution LG&E Energy installed to monitor EMS alarms and automatically notify maintenance and operations personnel when alarms are not received or their EMS systems have abnormalities. Hands and feet of primates The Primate order lies in a tight clustering of related orders (the Euarchontoglires) within the Eutheria, a subclass of Mammalia. Recent molecular genetic research on primates, flying lemurs, and treeshrews has shown that the two species of flying lemur (Dermoptera) are more closely related to the primates than the treeshrews of the order Scandentia, even though the treeshrews were at one time considered primates. These three orders make up the Euarchonta clade. This clade combines with the Glires clade (made up of the Rodentia and Lagomorpha) to form the Euarchontoglires clade. Variously, both Euarchonta and Euarchontoglires are ranked as superorders. Also, some scientists consider Dermoptera a suborder of Primates and call the "true" primates the suborder Euprimates (Hoffstetter, 1978) [6] .
