As recently as the presidential election of 1988, a Massachusetts-born, Connecticut-bred, part-time Maine resident atop the GOP ticket won four of the region’s six states. But George W. Bush lost all six New England states in 2004, after winning only New Hampshire in 2000. Things are almost as bad in Congress.

The six months leading up to November 7 will determine the winner of the 2000 presidential elections in the United States. It will be interesting to see what kind of exposure the hundreds of reporters following the campaign trail will give to the candidates, and how the candidates in their turn will take advantage of the media.
