Co-developed with fashion house Prada, the KE850 is a high tech, high fashion tri-band GSM mobile phone. In spite of its appearance, it isn't a smartphone. Think of it more like a feature phone on steroids. Not being a smartphone doesn't make it any less exciting of a device, of course.

Don't get to excited, just as fashion is always moving forward, you can be sure of one thing...that is that Ms. Prada is always looking to new textiles and fabrics. Following the lead of other companies in a popular trend to absorb as many other fashion houses as possible, Prada took on large debts when it acquired the financially floundering Rome-based house of Fendi in the early 1990s. Prada assumed shares in Fendi with the LVMH company. Prada was unable to turn around/support the money-losing Fendi label, and sold its Fendi shares to LVMH. Prada is still recovering from this debt. In 1999, the company acquired Church's, the English maker of quality shoes; more recently a 45% stake has been sold to Equinox.

It's hard to believe that, just a year ago, the name of the phone on everyone's lips was LG's collaboration with Prada, the sexy touchscreen number that let its users believe that their fingers were fashion (or something). And now, post iPhone, what of the Prada phone? Well, a silver version is now available in Europe, complete with new UI (... silver, apparently) and matching silver accessories.
