Powerpuff Girls: Powerpuff Girls Movie
built 656 days ago
If the POWERPUFF GIRLS television show packs a punch, then their first movie delivers a serious wallop. POWERPUFF GIRLS creator Craig McCracken takes his widely popular characters--Blossom, Bubbles, Buttercup, and their posse--and kicks it up a few notches with a stylish look that's easy on the eyes and engaging to all audiences. The film begins with a flashback to the POWERPUFF GIRLS' early days, when they were but a glimmer in the eye of their father-creator Professor Plutonium. The three girls--who are cute to the point of distraction--are not the pride of Townsville like they are on TV. They are persecuted as "freaks" because they cannot control their special powers. Who could have predicted that a nuclear-powered game of tag would wreak havoc on Townsville?

"Powerpuff Girls" moves fast, and there's a downside to bundling such insane quantities of energy into a movie: Catch it on the wrong day and it could give you the little sister of all headaches. (Limiting your intake of coffee and sugar-coated cereal beforehand isn't a bad idea.) The movie's pace becomes far too frenetic in the last third, leaving less room for the charming, oddball fillips that dot the first hour or so.

The movie shows the origin of the Powerpuff Girls before the cartoon series. It explains why they were born and why they dedicated their lives to fighting crime and the forces of evil. more

In the episode of The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, "My Fair Mandy", Mandy's smile causes a vortex to an alternate reality where Billy, Grim, and Mandy all appear as the Powerpuff Girls in the same bed. The Professor tells them Mojo Jojo(who in the end credits of that episode appears as Irwin) has sneaked into a movie theater and they fly off in frustration.
