Blossom (a red-head) is the leader of the Powerpuff Girls; Buttercup (black hair) is a tough, hotheaded tomboy; and Bubbles (a blond) is the sweetest in the bunch. Later in the series, there was a fourth Powerpuff girl named Bunny with brown hair, and purple eyes. She was created by the Powerpuff Girls to help them with their crime fighting duties, but Bunny's molecular structure soon became unstable and exploded.

Bubbles has two different levels of sonic screams and Buttercup can momentarily turn into a tornado and can throw fireballs.
