Porcelain crowns are fixed dental prostheses. They are used for replacing lost sections of teeth, such as those lost after large caries or injuries. They are custom-made to adapt to each patient's needs and they are attached to the teeth with a special adhesive, thanks to which it is almost impossible for the crown to become loose. Crowns offer excellent aesthetic and functional results. They may be used both in front teeth and in back teeth.

Porcelain painting is a true art form. The paint used is made from ground minerals mixed with flux, which will melt onto the glaze of the porcelain when it is heated in the kiln. Consecutive firings, which allow layers of color to be painted one upon another, create an incredible depth and visual interest that no other medium can claim. The true colors of a deep, dark red rose can be hypnotically stunning, as well as the rich tones of the greens. When these vivid hues are rendered and fused onto the porcelain, the effect can really be breathtakingly beautiful!

Porcelain starts with a pale clay such as china white, which has small, tight grains that are further ground so that they are even. Materials like glass, feldspar, and granite are ground with the clay before water is added to the mixture so that it can be worked. The porcelain is formed into the desired shape before being fired in a bisque kiln at moderate temperatures. After being bisqued, glazes are applied and the porcelain is fired at high temperatures, resulting in a fused, strong piece of pottery which is delicate, translucent, and highly useful.
