  1. Mexico City -- Mexico Citys
Other features visible in this image include: very mountainous terrain to the east, west and south of Mexico City. This includes the glacier-clad stratovolcanoes, Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl located in the southeastern region of this image. Lakes, reservoirs and rivers are ... visible including Lago de Texcoco, which is east of the city.
  2. Volcano (Movie)
I'm a sucker for disaster films, and after seeing Volcano once or twice before (a few years ago), this rental was a welcome reminder of how much classic disaster blockbusters are missed. As expected, Tommy Lee Jones and Anne Heche play fantastic roles and there is a great 'race-against-the-clock'-style suspense attached to this film which will keep you on your seat throughout the movie! Absolutely worth renting!
  3. Mexico City -- Centers
Founded in the fourteenth century, Mexico City has been a center for three great civilizations: the Aztecs, the Spanish, and the modern-day Mexicans. But in addition to an imposing political background, its geographical location has assured the city a fascinating ecological and environmental history. Mexico City lies in a basin 7,350 feet (2,240 m) high. It is surrounded by mountain ranges on all sides, and the presence of the extinct volcanoes Ixtacihuatl and Popocatepetl to the east are a reminder that the city lies on an active earthquake fault.
  4. Hernan Cortes -- Mexico City
Their first morning in Mexico, the Spaniards were amazed and enchanted - and in fear that Cortes had led them into the jaws of hell. Quickly - in the Pyramid of the War God - the opposing beliefs of the Spanish and Aztecs led to conflict. After a week's stand-off, Cortes arrested Montezuma, and soon found himself besieged by the Aztecs. The Spanish were trapped when they tried to escape. Few survived with Cortes. They joined forces with the Tiaxcalans and built a fleet of brigantines.
  5. Puebla -- Mexico City
Puebla experiences summers from May to October. During this time the weather conditions are quite warm and it rains occasionally. Being at a higher elevation though, it is less humid and hot, than other regions in Mexico. Therefore, October to May being the cooler months form the best time to visit this region.
  6. Puebla -- Cities
During the first hundred years after the War of Independence, Puebla, the second city of the New Spain, was the first to industrialize. Today, Puebla is still an important industrial city, mainly in the textile sector. Puebla is ... home to the Mexican headquarters and the only North American manufacturing site of Volkswagen, which assembles the Jetta and New Beetle models. Other German and French manufacturing companies operate in the city, most of them outsourcers for Volkswagen.
  7. Puebla -- Mexico State
Just a 15 minute cab ride from the center of Puebla is the town of Cholula. The original inhabitants of Cholula did not fare well under the Spanish; they supported their Aztec allies and ambushed Cortez on his march west towards Tenochtitlan (Modern-day Mexico City). The ambush failed and the leaders were executed; their temples and cities destroyed and replaced by Spanish churches. Everywhere you go in Cholula today, there seems to be a church. The largest pyramid in Mexico is here: although its top was leveled and a church built on it, too. The archaeological park is open to the public, and on a clear day, offers good views of the volcano.
