Popeye: Sailor Man
built 652 days ago
Bluto and Popeye get into a swordfight on the cove's rocky walls. Bluto, being bigger and stronger, knocks Popeye into the water. Meanwhile, an octopus comes from under the water and tries to eat Olive. Pappy calls to Popeye and tells him that if he ate spinach, he wouldn't be losing. Bluto discovers Popeye's dislike of spinach, and attempts to add insult to injury by forcing the sailor to eat a can of it, and kicking him under the water. The expected reaction occurs, and Popeye shoots up and defeats Bluto in the traditional way with a mighty punch that catapults the villain out of the water.
A regional manager for the Popeye's chain says Truesdale was one of those guys people just loved. Chris Gobie says customers would come in because they liked the victim, who often did more on the job than he was required to do.

One historian believes Popeye was inspired from Frank "Rocky" Fiegel [7], a man who was handy with his fists during Segar's youth in Chester, Illinois. Fiegel was born on January 27, 1868. He lived as a bachelor his entire life and never got married. It was said that later Segar sent checks to Fiegel in the 1930s. Fiegel died on March 24, 1947 at the age of 79.
WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA) -- The surveillance video shows two armed men entering the rear door of a Popeye's restaurant in Woodbridge Tuesday night. When the suspects ran out that same door, the Popeye's manager, Keith Truesdale, was dying.
