SLATE: Mattel, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, is recalling about 2.4 million Polly Pocket magnetic play sets sold in the United States. An additional 2 million magnetic play sets were sold worldwide.

Previously, on November 21, 2006 the CPSC announced a major product recall of eight magnetic Polly Pocket! Playsets which had been sold between May, 2003 and September, 2006. The pieces of the set obtain their magnetic power from the small but powerful NIB magnet produced in China from a composite of Neodymium, Iron and Boron. The models which should immediately be taken away from children and returned for a voucher are:

The recalled Polly Pocket brand sets include: Polly Place Hangin' Out House, Polly Place Treetop Clubhouse, Spa Day, Quik-Clik Boutique, Quik-Clik City Pretty Playset, Quik-Clik Sporty Style Playset and Totally Zen Playset. Polly Totally brand Polly Place Totally Tiki Diner sets are ... being recalled.
