In Japan, the PlayStation 3 will hit stores on Nov. 11 and in the United States on Nov. 17. Sony spokeswoman Nanako Kato said there were no plans to lower the price in other markets.

Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced the 80 GB Playstation 3 is now available online and at local stores in the US and Canada. The 80GB PS3 comes with one of the best games available for the PS3 currently, MotorStorm, for $599.

Through PLAYSTATION Store for the PC web site, PSP users will be able to establish and use their PLAYSTATION Network accounts and "virtual wallets" for PLAYSTATION Network, providing a seamless online commerce experience on both PS3 and the PC. In addition, users who already have a PLAYSTATION Network account can use their existing username and password to log in to the PLATSTATION Store for the PC.

Sony has officially announced that they will discontinue selling the $499 20GB PlayStation 3 model. Retail stores online and offline have already stopped selling the 20GB model, including Sony’s own SonyStyle e-tailer.
