Playing cards designed by award winning artist and illustrator Tony Meeuwissen, sold with an accompanying book of corresponding verses. The object was to use an eighteen line verse to select 14 cards and decode the verses to find a familiar phrase then as a tiebreaker, construct an apt verse of 25 words or fewer, using the words spades, clubs, hearts and diamonds. Fifty-six British artists have been especially commissioned to contribute to this unique interpretation of a pack of playing cards. Each card represents the original work of a different artist, together with different designs for the reverse and for the box. The cards have been printed on Superdeluxe board and have been produced in the traditional Old English size.
