On Saturday, April 8, the Playboy Mansion hosted a glamorous pajama and lingerie celebration as Playboy Playmates, celebrities and nearly 1,000 partygoers wished Hef a happy 80th birthday. Oscar-winning artist Three 6 Mafia electrified the crowd with a special musical performance and then led guests in a birthday song for Hef. "The Girls Next Door" co-star and Hefner girlfriend Bridget Marquardt surprised Hef with a classic burlesque striptease after popping out of a giant pink cake.

Playmate of the Month was Margie Harrison, Miss January 1954 (the second issue of Playboy). (Marilyn Monroe, who was featured in the first issue, was "Sweetheart of the Month".) Generally a woman may only appear once as a Playmate, but in the early years of the magazine some models were featured multiple times. Marilyn Waltz (February 1954, April 1954, April 1955 — her first appearance was as Margaret Scott) and Janet Pilgrim (July 1955, December 1955, and October 1956) are tied for the most appearances. Margie Harrison (January 1954, June 1954) and Marguerite Empey (May 1955, February 1956) are the only other women to appear more than once as Playmates.

The new channel will originate from Playboy's state-of-the-art Andrita Studio in Los Angeles with remotes from the Playboy Mansion, and will include a broad range of programming, leveraging personalities and elements from Playboy magazine, Playboy.com and Playboy TV. Hugh Hefner, Playboy Playmates, Playboy magazine editors and Playboy TV talent will all have a regular presence on the channel.

PETA wrangled up a couple of Playboy Playmates from the past to help promote a 'national veggie dog day'. Having a couple of Playboy Playmates each hot dogs out of eat others mouths sounds enticing enough, except that they're old playmates. And they're eating veggie dogs, probably made of, what? Vegetables. If you're going to use the women of Playboy at least have them wolf down a bratwurst. To hell with this veggie stuff.
