Contact source for reprint rights.] --- {EVangel} The Municipality of Milan Announces Plans For A 100 Edison/Electric Fuel Zinc-Air Electric Vehicle Fleet NEW YORK, March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Electric Fuel Corporation announced today that the Municipality of Milan together with Edison, Italy's largest private energy producer, and AEM, Milan's electric utility, plan to operate a fleet of 100 electric vehicles for the city of Milan. Powered by zinc-air batteries jointly developed by Electric Fuel and Edison, the fleet is slated to begin operations in the year 2000. The program was announced in Italy in a press conference in Palazzo Marino last Friday by Milan Mayor Gabriele Albertini, Transport Councillor Giorgio Goggi, Edison President Giulio Del Ninno, AEM President Enrico Cerrai, and the General Manager of the Ministry of the Environment Corrado Clini. In a press announcement by the Italian parties, the project was described as part of the sustainable mobility program of the Municipality of Milan and as one of the main actions of the Piano Generale Urbano for traffic.
