The Pizza and Pipes Belly Buster challenge was a success. A few men set out to make history, two became boys while one became a legend. What exactly is the Belly Buster challenge you ask. Simple, it’s a 20” pizza that must be consumed in one hour or less by one individual. To date many have tried but none have been victorious. The Hall of Shame is filled with Polaroids of individuals who’ve attempted to conquer the Belly Buster while the Hall of Fame lay bare.

Pizzamarketplace.com reports that Canadian-based Afton Food Group Ltd., a franchisee of multiple quick-service food brands, including 241 Pizza and Robin's Donuts, experienced a continued decline in profitability in fiscal 2002. According to a news release, revenues for the year, which ended Dec. 31, 2002, were $26.4 million (U.S. $17.6 million), a decline of 13 percent compared to the same period in 2001. The company points to reductions in new store openings and decreased leasing and franchise revenues from under-performing franchised and corporate stores that closed during 2002. Afton mentioned the implementation of a 20-point plan to turn the company around that includes restructuring of staff and debt, as well as boosting working capital and top-line revenues.
