Pikmin: Purple Pikmin

In the first Pikmin game, a mushroom-shaped enemy called a Puffstool releases spores when threatened. Pikmin caught in the spore cloud turn purple (but not the same as the purple Pikmin in Pikmin 2), grow mushroom caps, and turn on Captain Olimar. These defective Pikmin are called Toadmin and will recover quickly (but are often bombarded with more spores). In Pikmin 2, Antenna Beetles are able to emit a disorienting whistle which temporarily assumes control of the Pikmin it reaches. Although these Pikmin are not harmed by the whistle, they will follow the Beetle for a while and often wander into other hazards. Small clumps of rocks and patches of grass(appearing in both pikmin 1 and 2 can ... mesmerize pikmin.

Purple Pikmin - The Purple Pikmin are the second group of Pikmin you will meet. You will find them first in the Valley of Repose's Emergence Cave. They are only found in caves and are created by tossing Pikmin into Purple Flower Blooms. The Purple Flower Blooms will spew out one Purple seed for every Pikmin tossed in. Purple Pikmin are your strongest Pikmin. They fight the hardest and they can carry 10 times the weight of normal Pikmin. They are... the slowest of the Pikmin.

The original Pikmin was very popular and it was followed later by a sequel, Pikmin 2. This sequel fixed many problems that were found in the original Pikmin; mainly, the limited amount of days you had to complete the game, which now Olimar has taken the care of taking with him unlimited amounts of his breathable gas. Captain Olimar has a new assistant, Louie, and this enables the player to accomplish two actions at a time. (SPOILER) When the goal has been reached, Louie gets kidnapped by Titan Dweevil, a giant spider, and the President of Hocotate Freight, or Hocotate Transportation Company, called President (!), substitutes Louie in order for you to search for him. (END OF SPOILER) Also, two new Pikmin types are added to the sequel. Purple Pikmin are overweight, causing them to run very slowly compared to the other Pikmin types.

Toadmin are Pikmin who are infested with a Puffstool's spores. The Pikmin's eyes quickly lose their pupils. Toadmin immediately become hostile to Olimar and attempt to strangle him. If Olimar manages to shake them off, they will return to normal. The Pikmin ... turns purple and grows a mushroom on the top of its head instead of the typical leaf, bud, or flower. These effects are only temporary, (but since they tend to stay next to the Puffstool when not defending for it they are frequently reinfected) and with time a Toadmin will return to normal.
