Let’s face it, Pierre Trudeau was a goof. Far from the "charismatic leader" most people think of him as, he was rude, obnoxious, flippant, and unconcerned. From outrageous actions such as pulling a mockery of a pirouette behind the back of the Queen of England, to such unthinkable vulgarity as telling a member of parliament to f*** off, Trudeau was the master of impropriety. He opposed the Vietnam War and welcomed American draft dodgers; expanded economic relations with Fidel Castro's Cuba; promoted peace with the Soviet Union, to the dismay of then-President Reagan; and fought to protect Canada's identity from its imposing neighbor to the South.
