built 224 days ago
Moving to London with his family at an early age, Irish-born actor Pierce Brosnan made ends meet as a commercial illustrator and cab driver before turning to acting full-time. After training at the London Drama Centre, Brosnan made his West End stage bow in 1976, and appeared in his first film, The Long Good Friday, four years later.

Pierce Brosnan will sing ABBA songs including "S.O.S." and "Knowing Me, Knowing You" as romantic lead Sam Carmichael in the upcoming Mamma Mia! movie, according to Variety. Brosnan will play opposite previously announced lead Meryl Streep in the film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, which is now set to start filming on June 25 in London and Greece.

Brosnan's first film of 2007 was Seraphim Falls, in which he starred alongside fellow Irishman Liam Neeson. The film was released for limited screenings on January 26, 2007 to average reviews. Kevin Crust of the Los Angeles Times noted that Brosnan and Neeson made "fine adversaries;"[44] ... Michael Rechtshaffen of The Hollywood Reporter thought that they were "hard-pressed to inject some much-needed vitality into their sparse lines."[45]
Former 007 PIERCE BROSNAN has been cast opposite MERYL STREEP in the big-screen version of the hit musical Mamma Mia! Pierce will play one of three men who may be the father of a young woman who is trying to determine her roots. The film begins shooting this June in London and Greece.

After leaving school, Brosnan became a commercial artist but was introduced to acting by a co-worker who was in a theatre group in the evenings. He left his job for the life of an actor, and entered the Drama Centre in London, where he studied acting for 3 years. Brosnan recalls being "bowled over" by landmark Hollywood films such as Bonnie and Clyde and a bit later, Clint Eastwood's seminal Dirty Harry.
