Physical laws provide the basis for understanding processes in all the natural sciences, including chemistry, geology, astronomy, and biology. Physics students at CWU pursue the intellectual excitement of investigating natural phenomena, including light, sound, heat, electricity, magnetism, and the structure of matter. In the process, students acquire valuable experience in problem solving, quantitative reasoning, and experimental design, and develop habits of independent study and self improvement essential to success after graduation.

After completing a core curriculum in physics and mathematics and an introduction to the llife and other physical sciences, students have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in basic and applied physics research. Most advanced students are able to participate in the research projects of faculty members during any of three University terms. Similar experiences may be arranged in hospital, industrial or government research facilities in the area.

The hands-on physical therapy was first examined in two studies published in the peer reviewed medical journal "Medscape General Medicine" (6/04). The first study examined the ability of the therapy to help infertile women conceive naturally. After therapy, 71% of the participants had a natural pregnancy and most had full-term births.

[T]he funding for physical research rose considerably in both state and private universities. During the 1920s about 650 Americans received doctorates in physics; a number of them received postdoctoral fellowships from the International Education Board of the Rockefeller Foundation and from the National Research Council. After studying with the leading physicists in the United States and Europe, where the revolution in quantum mechanics was proceeding apace, many of these young scientists were well prepared for the pursuit of theoretical research.

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Children with behavioral disorders incur similar overall health care costs to children with physical disorders according to a recent study. Among behavioral disorders, costs were not uniform; anxiety and depression cost twice as much as other common behavioral disorders, mainly as a result of inpatient hospitalizations. This study, by researchers from The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania, appears in the electronic pages of the December issue of the journal Pediatrics.

Because poor nutrition has been associated with physical decline in older people, Bartali and her colleagues randomly selected almost 700 adults over age 65 from an ongoing longitudinal study in Tuscany, Italy. They reviewed blood tests to ascertain vitamin levels and reviewed data from physical function exams completed at the start of the study and at the three-year follow-up.
