The Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports is a nonprofit, non-partisan organization dedicated to promoting physical activity for all Californians with an emphasis on children and youth. The overall objective of the Governor's Fitness Challenge is to positively impact the physical activity, fitness and well-being of California students by providing a fitness competition for k-12 schools in which all students can participate. Principals and teachers can enroll their schools for the Governor's Challenge on http://www.CalGovCouncil.org. The Challenge is to be active 30 to 60 minutes a day at least three days a week for a month. All active days need to be recorded on the web site to compete in the 2007/2008 school year and the competition ends April 30, 2008. Incentives and awards are provided throughout the school year.
