The Philippine Studies certificate program aims to educate students on the Philippines, a developing country that is predominantly Catholic and has close ties with the United States politically, economically and culturally. It will help Filipino American students explore their heritage, make Filipino culture known to students of other backgrounds and the wider public and help internationalize the curriculum.

Apart from flying, buses are usually the way to go when it comes to traveling across the Philippines, at least from within the major islands. Provincial bus companies have scheduled trips from Manila to provinces to the north and south.
