Reyes, Secretary of the Department of Energy (DOE), the main speaker at the event, stated, "I warmly extend my congratulations to Energtek Inc. for having introduced their Adsorbed Natural Gas (ANG) technology here, in the Philippines. The Government of the Philippines recognizes that natural gas will provide for a structural change in the country's energy mix, strengthen its fuel diversification program and contribute to the country's energy security position."

Like the Americas, the archipelago had a governor-general, an audiencia ('advisors and court'), and a cabildo ('town council') for the city of Manila. In the areas outside of Manila, alcaldías ('provinces') were organized, with an alcalde mayor ('provincial governor') as head.

Mergers Business World Trade Organization (WTO) regulations require that the Philippines lift import restrictions on coal. Since the 1970s, when the National Coal Authority was created, Philippine coal importers have been required to obtain a government certificate of compliance before importing coal, allowing the authorities to force importers to buy domestic coal each time they purchased coal from abroad. President Macapagal Arroyo has committed to honoring the international coal supply contracts approved by the previous government.
