The Philadelphia Phillies are one of the oldest organizations in baseball and a fan favorite, or phan phavorite. Phillies fans are known for substituting all the fs of the alphabet to ph in honor of their MLB team. The Philadelphia baseball team plays at the Citizens Bank Park in the East division of the National League. The Fightin’ Phils, as they are called, have won one World Series, five league pennants and seven division titles. Mike Schmidt, Bucky Harris and Cy Williams, Randy Wolf and Padilla Flotilla are just a few of the Phillies that have made their fame with the team. Come cheer on the Phillies with the phans and enjoyed phun-philled baseball game!

The Philadelphia Phillies are heading in the right direction as an organization. The dream of winning the division outright, and not the Wild Card as they almost did last year, is very real with manager Charlie Manuel's team. They have a high-powered offense, led by NL MVP Ryan Howard, that scored the most runs in the league and '07 should be another year of massive production from the lineup.

The Philadelphia Phillies joined the National League in 1883. In their first season they lost a whopping 81 of 98 games. However, some of baseball's biggest stars have played in Philadelphia. The first was Sam Thompson, the slugging outfielder of the 1880s and 1890s. Also during that time Billy Hamilton played for the NL Philadelphia team. The late 1890s featured Big Ed Delahanty, Nap Lajoie, and Elmer Flick.

The Philadelphia Phillies won their first NL pennant in 1915 under manager Pat Moran. Right-handed pitcher Grover Cleveland Alexander led the league with 31 wins, a 1.22 earned run average (ERA), 12 shutouts, 241 strikeouts, and 36 complete games. Right fielder Gavvy Cravath starred offensively, leading the NL with 24 home runs, 115 runs batted in (RBIs), 89 runs, and 86 walks. The team lost to the Boston Red Sox in the World Series.

The Philadelphia Phillies were born in the National League in 1884 and are the longest standing same-named, same-city team in American professional sports. In fact, the Phillies have been drug down by bad management and poor players for almost the entire span of their long history, so much so, that they have lost more games than any other American professional sports team. They hold the unenviable records of losing twenty-three straight games in 1961 and going ninety-two years (1883-1979) without a championship. The Phils won a half-season pennant but lost to Montreal in the strike-forced 1981 Division Series. The team moved into a new ballpark in 2004 and have been away from post-season for more than ten years.
