The "Doing More for Pets" Rescue Stories Contest was launched earlier this year when Purina Pro Plan Rally to Rescue invited its Ambassadors to submit entries describing their most amazing pet rescue stories. A panel of judges selected 10 finalists from more than 100 submissions. From May 17 through September 30, animal lovers were encouraged to go to the organization's Web site and vote for the dog or cat they believed made the most significant transformation.

Pets cannot change their evolution once they're evolved, nor can they be "retrained" by the animal trainer. It takes a few hours to 'train' a pet so think twice about turning in your pet. It is not possible to change your pet's evolution according to your build, so pick an evolution that will most likely fit your purposes.

Many animal species are difficult to handle and cannot be pets for the general populace. Raptors, such as eagles and falcons, must be handled very carefully to avoid attacks on their handlers; the sport of falconry is to a large extent ways of avoiding such outcomes, and so they are not really pets in the sense meant here. Large cats cannot become pets, as they do not reliably restrain their impulses (although cheetahs are an exception and have been kept as pets in the past). Nor do the large bears, for similar reasons. Small monkeys can be human companions, but they are notoriously unable to defer their curiosity which leads to much destruction. Several of the ferret and otter varieties can be human companions.

"While pets bring a lot of joy to families, it is important that the person on the receiving end actually wants the animal," said Hanna. "If you are set on buying a pet, you should find out as much as you can about the animal. In addition, if you are considering giving someone a pet for Christmas, consider going to your local animal shelter. There are many homeless dogs and cats there that are looking for a home."

Most of the pets are adopted from animal rescue organizations and Silverado executives are constantly on the lookout for new creatures for their menagerie. Employees are ... encouraged to bring their own pets to work, not only for their own pleasure, but for the residents, as well.
