At the beginning of "Peter Pan", life in the Darling home seems pretty unextraordinary. Well aside from the fact that Nana is, in fact, a dog. That comes as no surprise, as Peter Pan is the most fantastical of any of Walt Disney's films. Three children in London –- Wendy, John, and Michael –- are whisked from reality into a world where youth is eternal and adventure is at every turn. People fly, mermaids speak, and pirates see children as their most formidable opponents.
Peter Pan Fast Pass Sign Based on Disney's 1953 film, Peter Pan's Flight opened with Magic Kingdom on October 3, 1971. An earlier version first opened in Disneyland on July 17, 1955. Both Tokyo Disneyland (1983) and Disneyland Paris (1992) ... have Peter Pan's Flight.

It was one of the studio's first nine animated films to appear on the format as part of the Limited Issue collection in 1999. A barebones release with shaky quality and no frills, it was upgraded to a Special Edition in 2002. Boasting a new restoration and a number of bonus features, the Special Edition was much more successful than the Limited Issue had been and was, at the time, considered to be one of Disney's best single-disc DVDs.

Fox Kids (Eek! the Cat) produced Peter Pan & the Pirates in 1990, with Jason Marsden (Danger Duck in Loonatics) as Peter and Tim Curry (Nigel Thornberry) as Hook. That was ... the year of a French comic book prequel.

Peter Pan (2003) Families who enjoy this movie may ... enjoy the many versions of Barrie's story, including Disney's Peter Pan, and the Broadway musical version, especially the ones starring Mary Martin and Cathy Rigby. The origins of the story are explored in the 2004 tearjerker Finding Neverland.
