Peter Grant is an abstract expressionist painter who lives and works in Huntsville, Alabama. He was born in St. Petersburg, Florida, and grew up in Greenville, South Carolina in the midst of an artistic family. Peter studied art at Clemson University and graduated with a degree in Financial Management. During his twenty-year military career Peter further developed his art through photography while traveling the world. Following retirement, Peter’s love for horses inspired him to paint equestrian scenes. When not painting he can often be found with his foundation quarter horse, "Echo".

Peter Grant was a factor in the North-west Company, and spent the greater part of his life in the Indian country. When he retired, he settled at St.Anne's, bout de l'isle. He afterwards removed to Lachine, where he died in July, 1848, age about 85 years. He bought pew 51 [in the St. Gabriel street church] in 1816.

Research by Rosemary and Peter Grant sheds new light on Darwin's finches. Their study of finch populations on the Galápagos Islands demonstrates that evolutionary changes in beak size and shape occur very rapidly in response to severe environmental changes. In the museum exhibit, visitors take beak measurements of Galápagos finches and learn how the selective effects of environmental change, acting through the abundance of different food types, influence variation in finch beaks.

Peter Grant is almost solely responsible for taking the money out of the corporate greed mongers hands and placing it back where it belongs. In the hands of the artists. The promoters and record board execs are the greedy ones. They took everything they could, and when there was nothing left, they took the artist dignity away. Grant, having the hottest commodity at the time, showed the music industry that 10% of Led Zeppelin was better then 90% of anything else. He showed them he could book his own shows.
