The Iranian shore of the Persian Gulf is largely mountainous and fringed with cliffs. Sandy beaches line the Arabian shore, which is broken by many small islands and lagoons. Large banks of pearl-producing mollusks are found off the Arabian coast. Spectacular cliffs rise from the shore around the Musandam Peninsula near the Strait of Hormuz at the southeastern end of the gulf. The Tigris, Euphrates, and Kārūn rivers deposit large amounts of silt as they empty into the gulf in the northwest. The Persian Gulf region is known for its high temperatures, uncomfortable humidity, and low rainfall.

The pair will meet and greet service members, sign autographs and tour job posts. Additionally, Barkley and Green will provide as much one-on-one interaction as possible, motivating troops serving far from home.Charles Barkley, an 11-time NBA All-Star, is currently a studio commentator for TNT's NBA coverage and a frequent contributor to CNN's "Talk Back Live." An author as well, he recently released his new book "Who's Afraid of A Large Black Man." Originally from Leeds, Ala., he was the fifth pick overall in the 1984 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. The band ... will "meet and greet" troops, sign autographs and pose for pictures. During the tour, the celebrities will perform shows, visit with troops, sign autographs and tour military facilities at a number of locations in the region.Preston serves as the Army Chief of Staff's personal advisor on all enlisted-related matters, particularly in areas affecting soldier training and quality of life. Last year, Preston and a group of celebrities traveled to Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan to visit service members during the holidays.
