Entwistle was born in Port Talbot, Wales, as Millicent Lilian Entwistle. Her parents' place of residence at the time of her birth was in West Kensington, London.[1] Her parents were Robert S. and Emily (née Stevenson) Entwistle.[1]

While working on Broadway, Peg met a fellow actor named Robert Keith. He was ... a popular star and despite his being 10 years Peg’s senior, the two soon fell in love and got married. But the marriage soured quickly. During a visit to her mother-in-law’s house, Peg noticed a photograph of a young boy on the mantel. something that he had kept hidden from her. Incidentally, that surprise step-son was future actor Brian Keith, star of the television show Family Affair.
