This announcement marks the first time in eight years that Pearl Jam has released a music video. It is ... the first time that the band has licensed work under one of Creative Commons’ free, flexible copyright licenses.
Pearl Jam's phenomenal success -- the band has sold nearly 40 million records to date, according to Epic Records -- had a positive side as well. With so much money coming in from record sales, the band lent its support to a wide variety of causes, from Home Alive, a self-defense organization, to Artscorp, a group helping underprivileged kids.
Frontman Eddie Vedder in Pistoia, Italy on September 20, 2006. To support Pearl Jam, the band embarked on its 2006 world tour. It toured North America, Australia and notably Europe; Pearl Jam had not toured the continent for six years. The band served as the headliners for the Leeds and Reading festivals, despite having vowed to never play at a festival again after Roskilde. Vedder started both concerts with an emotional plea to the crowd to look after each other. He commented during the Leeds set that the band's decision to play a festival for the first time after Roskilde had nothing to do with "guts" but with trust in the audience.[60]
To celebrate the release of Pearl Jam's first greatest hits record, rearviewmirror (greatest hits 2001-2003), the band is giving away 2 iPODS loaded with Pearl Jam's entire studio catalog and 5 bootlegs. Available only in the city of Seattle, fans must purchase the greatest hits record at any Sonic Boom Records or Easy Street Records location between Nov. 16th and Dec. 19th to be entered in the contest. After purchasing the record at any of the above locations, fans will be asked to fill out an information card and receive a special Pearl Jam iPOD ticket as proof that they entered the contest. The drawing will happen on December 20th and two winners will each receive an iPOD loaded with over 250 Pearl Jam songs. One entry is allowed for every purchase of the record.

Pearl Jam Concert Tickets Flooding the through the gates of the Seattle grunge scene just behind Nirvana, Pearl Jam quickly became the gods of grunge in the early 90's. In a shaky time for rock radio, Pearl Jam was just the new taste that the genre was hungry for. Pearl Jam enjoyed successful album sales into the late 90s, but concert tours were a different monster. The band took on Ticketmaster in an effort to lower ticket cost. Their efforts failed, but you still have to admire the band for trying to bring it back to the fans.

Pearl Jam Pearl Jam was born from the bosom of Mother Love Bone. With the death of Mother Love Bone frontman Andrew Wood and the disintegration of the band in 1990, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament set out to create their next band. They recruited guitarist Mike McCready and recorded a three song demo tape. This tape made it to ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Jack Irons, who passed it on to Eddie Vedder during one of their hiking trips. Eddie listened to the tape shortly before going surfing. While he was out in the water, the music played in his head and the lyrics came to him.
