Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard's long-running side project Brad will perform at an Oct. 17 concert in New York to benefit the Huntington's Disease Society of America. Brad ... will play Oct. 19 in Seattle ahead of the late-2007 release of their new album, Best Friends. Meanwhile, infant-friendly covers of holiday tunes by Pearl Jam, Blink-182 and the Killers are featured on the new Lullaby Renditions of Christmas Rock Classics CD.
About mid-year, Pearl Jam's "Ten" displaced Nirvana's "Nevermind" as the Greatest Rock Album and never looked back. "Ten," released just prior to Nirvana's landmark album, eventually sold more copies than "Nevermind." For the first time, AC/DC's "Black In Black" made the list landing at #3, behind "Nevermind."

Pearl Jam's official bootleg program was begun for their 2000 Binaural Tour. 72 of the "bootlegs" were released to stores in three waves in late 2000 and early 2001, with the 25 European bootlegs coming first. Every show was released in a cardboard sleeve containing two CDs, with the exception of the 72nd and final show on the tour, November 6, 2000 at KeyArena in Seattle. The Seattle show was released as a triple-disc set, and was the highest-charting of the series, peaking at 98 on the Billboard 200, and was called an "essential live document" by All Music Guide.[2] Eighteen shows from the tour were chosen as "Ape/Man" shows, denoting particularly good live documents. With the release of these official bootlegs, Pearl Jam would set a record for most albums to debut in the Billboard Top 200 at the same time.
photo The Pearl Jam story began in 1990, when Gossard and Ament hooked up with McCready to jam and work on songs. Gossard and Ament were still mourning the breakup of Mother Love Bone, which had disbanded after the heroin-related death of lead singer Andy Wood, later the subject of a remarkable tribute album, "Temple of the Dog."
For their next album, Vs, Pearl Jam again refused to release any singles cuts and this time ... said they would make no videos. Despite refusing to play the publicity game, it sold 950,000 copies in the US in the first week of its release - at the time, the highest figure in music history.

Pearl Jam More than a commentary on the state of the union, Pearl Jam is ... an album of hope. Like 2002's Riot Act, the disc contains a number of poignant, reflective references to spirituality that transcend the group's own partisan jadedness. None of these is necessarily a faith manifesto, but they're otherwise inspirational—in their own messy kind of way.
