Its goals are to help prevent and resolve violent conflicts, promote post-conflict stability and development, and increase peacebuilding capacity, tools, and intellectual capital worldwide. Peace development requires leaders: those who can envision a world without violence and design its blueprints. Peace development ... requires actors who will transform the elements of nonpeace into the fabric of peace. The shadow of peace assumes that geopolitical entities called nationâ€states are the fundamental units of analysis, and that the political and military leaders of these nationâ€states are the primary actors and leaders. The development of essential peace, on the other hand, is not limited to nationâ€states and their leaders. Rather, essential peace requires the effort of individuals, communities, local and regional governments, teachers, nongovernmental organizations, international nongovernmental organizations, networks, and the nontraditional loci of nonviolent power.

WASHINGTON, Nov. 12, 2001 /PRNewswire/ -- The World Committee for Justice and Peace (WCJP) is leading a delegation of Israeli terror attack victims to the United States to show solidarity with American victims of terror. The delegation, which will include three victims in wheelchairs (two of whom are 9- and 12-year-old sisters), will be attending the United Jewish Communities General Assembly in Washington, D.C. from November 10-13th. The conference will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel (next to the Woodley Park metro).
