Presented in anamorphic widescreen (1.78:1), The Stepford Life is an intriguing 18-minute retrospective featurette that includes new interviews with director Bryan Forbes, producer Edgar J. Scherick, and stars Katherine Ross, Paula Prentiss, Nanette Newman, and Peter Masterson. The interviews don't beat around the bush, and Forbes gets right to the point in detailing the troubled working relationship he had with screenwriter William Goldman who, although notably absent from the featurette, has his side of the story at least partially defended by Masterson. The interviews ... offer insight into how those involved in the production understood the movie while they were making it and their various reactions to the controversy that surrounded its release.

Highly sensitive and rather easily taken in, Paula Prentiss needs to beware of deceiving herself and allowing others to take advantage of her impressionability or gentleness. Daydreaming, fantasizing or other forms of imaginative, escapist behavior (such as watching television excessively or living her life through romance novels) could be something of an addiction for Prentiss. Paula Prentiss tends to confuse images with reality and needs to learn to be more circumspect and discriminating. Disenchantment with women and close relationships could ensue as a result.
