Chalk it up to MGM’s publicity machine, Prentiss said. The studio put the four “girl” stars on the road for six weeks to promote the movie prior to its release in December of 1960. (Yvette Mimieux, Connie Francis and Dolores Hart were the other three.) Prentiss said they visited hundreds of radio stations and small newspapers.
