Patrick Duffy is het jongste kind en enige zoon van Terrence en Marie Duffy. Hij groeide op in Montana, waar zijn ouders een bar bezaten. Vanaf zijn twaalfde woonde hij in Seattle, waarna hij dramalessen ging volgen aan de Universiteit van Washington. Hier leerde hij zijn vrouw Carlyn Rosser kennen, die hem kennis liet maken met Boeddhisme. In 1974 trouwden ze in een Boeddhistische tempel. Het stel heeft twee zonen, Padraic Terrence ('74) en Conor Frederick ('79).

Born on St. Patrick’s Day to Terrence and Marie Duffy, Patrick was the elder of two children. His parents owned taverns in and around the small town of Townsend, Montana, and later, when Duffy was twelve, the family moved to Seattle, Washington State.

Pat Duffy was an Associate with the law firm of Manza, Moceri, Gustafson and Messina from 1975-1979, a Partner at the Manza Moceri law firm from 1980-1986, and a Partner at the Messina Duffy law firm from 1986-1992. In 1992, Mr. Duffy opened his own practice in Sumner, Washington, with a concentration on personal injury, wrongful death and sexual discrimination litigation.

Patrick is the youngest, yet only son, of 2 children. He wanted to become a professional athlete... his involvement in his high school's drama department led him to apply to the Professional Actors Training Program at the University of Washington, Seattle. He was one of 12 people accepted.

During his career, Mr. Duffy has tried to verdict approximately fifty cases, participated in over 250 arbitration proceedings and negotiated numerous injury and wrongful death cases involving seven figure settlements. He has tried to verdict a sexual harassment case against the State of Washington that led to settlement of several more sexual and racial harassment cases against the State.
