Gunman Joe Jackson killed patent lawyer Michael McKenna because he thought McKenna had stolen his patent idea, according to police reports. Jackson had reportedly hired McKenna to research a possible patent for Jackson on a toilet that could be fitted into the cab of a tractor-trailer. Last week, he forced his way into the law firm of Wood Phillips and killed McKenna, patent lawyer Allen Hoover, 65, and 78-year-old mail clerk Paul Goodson. Jackson, who was killed by police, left behind deranged letters with his pastor. (McKenna wasn’t a lawyer at Wood Phillips but kept an office there.)
