When pondering how Party Poker came to be the industry’s biggest hitter, one need look no further than its game selection. With almost every game size, type, and stake available, and usually several of each, this is Party’s biggest strength and the benchmark for all other sites. Cash games offered are all hold’em games, limit and pot limit Omaha, and 7-card stud, with each of these ranging in stakes from as low as 10c/25c to $100/$200. While the Party Poker software is nothing special, it is very easy to use and understand. Oddly missing in the lobby is the ability to see the flop percentage of the tables; many players use this feature at poker sites and may find its loss jolting. Fortunately, personal percentages are available during play, though they aren’t very sophisticated. The lobby filter makes it easy to navigate through and players can find the games the are looking for with minimal effort. The ability to sort the columns again added to the overall ease of game navigation.

The software at Party Poker is fast and reasonably reliable. There can be some glitches with the waiting list to get into games and other minor annoyances such as noises and graphics but overall no major problems at all. Tables are re-sizable and hand histories are now ... stored on the hard drive. Players can play up to 10 tables simultaneously and the software includes statistics showing the average pot size for each table in its lobby section, which gives a pointer to finding the juicier games.

Party Poker’s reputation was largely built upon being the largest and fishiest website back when it was first released. Although it isn’t the largest anymore, it still holds true to the fish part. Many people who still play at PartyPoker feel it is the easiest site to play on today. This is one of the reasons it had such a large impact when it closed its doors to US players, many people didn’t know where else to go where the games would be as good.
