Paris Metro
built 658 days ago
The Paris Metro is a tourist spot by itself; the stations are worth a visit surely by their own rights. The stop for the Louvre makes one feel at the Museum itself; the speckless marble walls are decorated with various exhibits - replicas of art works being the prime ones along with the glass cases containing various sculptures. The showings at Varenne offer a replica of The Thinker, while Liège is an exhibit by itself because of its beautiful tile decors.
To ride the Paris Metro is a fact of Parisian life. From 5:30 am to 12:30 am every day, the Metro serves 6 Million out of the 10.5 Million citizens of Paris - unless operations get disrupted by a strike of some sort. Barring that, the Metro is so efficiently thought out that you would be hard pressed to walk a quarter mile in any direction without finding a “bouche de métro” (mouth of the metro) and go anywhere your heart desires.
Paris--Metro The Paris Metro runs from 5:30am to 12:30am. A single ticket costs FFR8, a package of ten tickets FF52. Tickets are punched in Metro turnstiles or bus ticket boxes prior to departure. Keep ticket accessible while riding, as you may be asked to show it to a transit inspector and no ticket means paying a FF150 fine, though such occasions are rare. Also, tickets are sometimes needed to exit turnstiles. Passes can be purchased at airports, major Metro and RER railway stations, and the Paris Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The Paris Metro is probably the quickest way around Paris. Above ground, you are never far from a station. However, if not taken seriously, the Metro can be a strange and confusing world, if it's your first time on it.

The Paris Metro was originally known as the "Chemin de Fer Metropolitain" ("Metropolitan railway"), then "Metropolitain," quickly abbreviated to "Metro". Inaugurated in 1900, it is one of the oldest subway systems in the world, and the second biggest in number of stations, right next to New York City.
Paris Métro Line 10 is one of 16 metro lines in Paris, France. The line links the Pont de Saint Cloud in Boulogne in the west with the Gare d'Austerlitz. It has the least traffic of any of the 14 main metro lines (excluding lines 3bis and 7bis).
