Alt-metal group Papa Roach — Coby Dick (aka Jacoby Shaddix), Jerry Horton, Dave Buckner and Tobin Esperance — released their first major-label album, Infest, in 2000 on DreamWorks. By that time, they had to compete with other, more established rap-metalers like Korn and Limp Bizkit, though the album went on to sell over 3 million copies on the strength of their hit single "Last Resort," a song about suicide. For their next album, 2002's Lovehatetragedy, Papa Roach excised rap from their metal and adopted more of the brute simplicity of punk.

Papa Roach The Northern Californian alt-metal group Papa Roach consists of Coby Dick, Jerry Horton, Dave Buckner, and Tobin Esperance. They formed in 1993 and began releasing EPs soon after, including 1994's Potatoes for Christmas and 1995's Caca Bonita. By 1996, the group replaced original bassist Will James with Esperance and hired a new manager; the following year, Papa Roach released their first full-length album, Old Friends From Young Years, which became a surprise hit on local radio. more

A Papa Roach Ringtones Fan The early formation of Papa Roach occurred in January of 1993, when Jacoby Shaddix (vocals) and Dave Buckner (drums) met on the Vacaville High School football field, where the two ended up talking about music. They were later joined by Will James (bass) and Ben Luther (trombone), completing Papa Roach's first ever line-up. They decided to enter in the school's talent show, where they performed a cover version of Jimi Hendrix's famous song, Fire. However, the performance was most notable for the fact they played without a guitarist. They ultimately didn't win the contest. Click here to read more.
