Pallas, the first Estonian school of fine arts, was established in Tartu in 1919 and it functioned as Estonia’s first independent institution of higher learning which offered an education in the fine arts. Hotel Pallas was built in the place where the school stood until the bombing of Tartu in 1944. The name of the hotel was chosen to commemorate this part of Estonian history and the era in which the events took place. The two institutions are linked not only by their names but ... by the paintings that have inspired the interior decoration of the rooms, hommage to the artists associated with the Pallas school. The paintings begin at the reception which has been decorated on the basis of “Interior”, an oil painting by Karl Pärsimägi. The same painting has also been used in the corridors of the third floor, in a more generalised manner.

Winner of the first Dutch ICT Architecture Championship in 2004, Ahold Nederland's data warehouse -- Pallas -- is used to aggregate and analyse data for a large number of the group's operating units. Previous versions of Informatica PowerCenter have anchored the data warehouse since its inception in 2000. The move to Informatica PowerCenter Advanced Edition version 8 was spurred by the increasing volume and complexity of Ahold's data, and the resulting need for visibility into the entire data warehousing and business analytics chain, from data sources to management reporting tools, provided by Informatica Metadata Manager.

Every Pallas album has its own personality and originality and so has "The Cross & The Crucible". They were once labelled as a neo-progressive rock band, but nowadays that label doesn't do them justice at all. Pallas has cemented their place among the top names in the symphonic rock genre and judging by the strength of their previous albums, they'll probably stay there for a long time.

Pallas in Cancer: The pattern recognition and problem solving abilities focus around domestic matters and emotional concerns. This is ... a good placement for a therapist to have, or someone in a profession that requires nurturing in some way, such as a nanny. The sign of Cancer also governs hotels and restaurants. If you happen to work in those fields, Pallas in Cancer will be a great help in organizing, arranging, and problem solving.

Progressive Scottish rockers Pallas perform songs from their album "Knightmoves" in this 1985 concert filmed at London's Camden Palace. Captured during the height of the New Progressive Rock era, when new bands revived the genre originally pioneered by masters such as Yes and Emerson Lake and Palmer, this concert offers a rare look at a unique time in British rock history. Also features songs from the albums "The Sentinel" and "Arrive Alive."
