Palau diving offers a great variety of different kinds of diving for beginners and advanced divers. Blue holes, huge caverns, spectacular walls and an immense variety of rare marine species are easily accessible in clear water with visibility exceeding 200 feet. In Palau there are World War II wrecks. Many not found anywhere else in the world, of large pelagic predators, sharks, turtles, dolphins and land locked marine lakes, accessible from the sea through tunnels are home to rare jelly fish, anemones and soft corals.

In 1981, Palau voted for the world's first nuclear-free constitution. However, this delayed Palau's independence as it ... wanted a Compact of Free Association with the United States, which the U.S. would not agree to as long as the anti-nuclear clause was in place; thus the United Nations delayed terminating the U.S. trusteeship. Palauan independence was finally achieved after the anti-nuclear clause was repealed.
The biodiversity of Palau is reflected in Palauan legends, which show a close relationship between the Palauans and the many creatures that inhabit their land. In the legends, often humans transform into animals, such as when a Palauan mother clutching her child turned into a dugong to explain the start of this marine mammal, and the theme of transformation is very strong. Visitors here will see how in Palau, the close relationship with such a thriving natural world opens up the interconnectedness of life and will not leave you untransformed.

lagoon.jpg (8252 bytes) Palau is rated as one of the Seven Under Water Wonders of the World by CEDAM International. This is not surprising when you can stand atop a reef edge in knee deep water and see it drop away to 320 metres vertically. It is believed that there are more than 50 WW2 wrecks sunk in the lagoon.
