The Packers are the obvious favorites in this game. They are coming off a huge win against the Seahawks, they are in Lambeau, and they are healthy. One of the hidden gems of the Seahawks game was that the Packers did not have any injures, and the game was basically over at the half (28-17).

If the Packers had Moss, they would be the top contender in the NFC and the Patriots would be less dominant although most likely top seed in AFC. This was a huge management error to miss out on Moss and could have been an error of the magnitude of having missed out on Favre or Reggie White in the 1990s. In other words, this was the kind of decision that could have had repercussions for another 10 years. Favre was publicly outraged at TT for this and appears to have been right. It is hard to say if Moss would have been as dominant without Brady/Bellichick and all the talent around him in NE but no doubt would have a major impact (and pissed off the Vikings fans even more which alone would have been worth it.)

If the World Series goes to game five, the Packers could have some competition for sportsfans. The Rockies are in the World Series and game 5 is scheduled to be at Coors field the same night the Packers take on the Broncos. The Broncos asked the NFL to bump the game to Sunday but the NFL declined because the games aren’t scheduled for the same venue.

In announcing very bad news, the Packers today placed O-lineman Junius Coston on IR, meaning he will not be available for the playoffs. Junius Coston injured his calf against the Lions in the Packers last game of the regular season. The Packers brought up tackle Orrin Thompson from the practice squad to replace the injured Coston.

McCarthy became the first Packers coach since Vince Lombardi to take his team to a championship game in his second season, guiding the league's youngest club to an appearance in the NFC Championship Game.
