Ovulation: Ovulation Tests
built 633 days ago
Ovulation prediction kits (OPK) are sold to help you pinpoint ovulation by detecting a surge in your hormones, namely LH. These urine based tests can be done easily at home, no matter the length of your cycle. This will help you appropriately time sexual intercourse, intrauterine insemination (IUI) or other infertility treatment in an attempt to get pregnant.
Ovulation kits are tools for predicting ovulation, a woman's most fertile time during her menstrual cycle. Unlike body temperature charting (see FAQ on Fertility Awareness Method), ovulation tests anticipate ovulation before it takes place.

Fertility Tests Ovulation predictor tests are performed for four or five days during mid cycle beginning around cycle day eleven; the increase in LH seen before ovulation is detected. There is a change in the color of the test when the concentration of LH hormone increases above a certain threshold in the urine. The interval of greatest fertility includes the day of LH surge detection and the following two days. This test predicts when ovulation will occur and is helpful in timing inseminations ( IUI ) and intercourse to correspond to the most fertile time of the cycle.
Ovulation tests work by detecting luteinizing hormone (LH) in a woman's urine. Just preceding ovulation, women experience an "LH surge" - a sudden, dramatic, and brief rise in the level of luteinizing hormone. Ovulation tests detect the LH surge, allowing you to accurately predict when you will ovulate.
One Step LH Urine Ovulation Test is fast and easy-to-use. It is a qualitative test that predicts LH (Luteinizing Hormone) surge, and in turn, when you are likely to ovulate and possibly conceive. Females who are trying to become pregnant may use this information to improve their chances of conception.

Ovulation kits are now widely available to help you to determine when you are ovulating. These ovulation tests measure the amount of LH in your urine, allowing you to predict when you are ovulating. These tests are fairly inexpensive and easy to use – all you have to do is place a special stick in your urine flow and then wait for the results.
