Google, Yahoo, Overture: The real war is for click throughs on advertising. Overture has been much more successful with advertisers than Google with its AdWords, suggests Jennifer Evans in her article about search engine wars. She sees the Overture model where content and advertising are blurred winning at Yahoo, MSN and other places. Although Google is currently supreme as a search engine, she sees threats from MSN Search, Alltheweb, and Teoma. AlltheWeb maybe. Not Teoma - not yet - it's too small.

Overture's paid placement search listings are generated by advertisers who bid for placement on search terms relevant to their businesses. A multi-lingual editorial team based in Dublin, Ireland reviews these listings before they are distributed to the company's Austrian and Swiss distribution partners. An advertiser only pays the bidded amount to Overture when a consumer clicks on one of its search listings.

(April 11 2003) The Overture pay-per-click text ad company has signed an agreement with "scumware" deliverer Gator. Kalena Jordan of High Search Engine Ranking and other search engine optimization providers are mighty upset about Overture's move.

Following Mad Money, Overture will release Sleepwalking on March 14th, 2008, an emotional drama about a young girl's search for parental love, starring Oscar(R) winner Charlize Theron. Following is Tom McCarthy's The Visitor, Overture's most recent acquisition from the 2007 Toronto Film Festival, which will arrive in theaters on April 11th, 2008. Overture is domestically distributing the action-thriller Righteous Kill, starring Oscar(R) winners Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, which finished principal photography last month. Also recently wrapped is Traitor, a politically charged espionage thriller starring Don Cheadle and Guy Pearce, as well as Last Chance Harvey, starring Oscar(R) winners Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson.
