Outlaws: Games
built 133 days ago
Outlaws is one of the first LucasArts games to feature multiplayer support, a feature for which gamers clamored following the release of Dark Forces. The multiplayer mode allows each player to choose from six of the 12 outlaws in the game, each with his or her own unique fighting characteristics. In all, Outlaws has three complete game variations to give players rich replay value -- a cinematic adventure game, a bounty-hunter action game and a thrilling, multiplayer game -- all from a first person perspective. The game was designed to transcend the traditional first person shoot `em up. In the adventure game component you are ex-marshal James Anderson, once the most feared lawman in the West. When your sheltered life is shattered by desperadoes, you embark on a quest that leads you to the deadliest killers this side of the Mississippi.

The Outlaws can expect to lose a few more players, some during the season, but most after the final game has been played. With the early success, the Outlaws front office has been working diligently to accommodate their remaining player’s desires to get to the next level. Pro scouts have expressed interest in several players on the current Outlaws roster, and have attended several home games at University High School.

A petition has been made by the fans to get LucasArts to consider making a sequel for Outlaws but so far no plans have been made. The petition has received over 2900 signatures so far. In interviews LucasArts staff have claimed that they consider Outlaws one of its best classic games... it seems unlikely it will get a sequel, much to the dismay of its fanbase.

Max, the wicked bunny from the Sam & Max adventure, another Lucas arts game, makes an appearance in western style in Outlaws. To meet him and to discover some other funny things, choose the ‘historical missions’ mode and play until you’ve earned enough stars to become a deputy. Then you can enter the deputy and play a new level. Check the map while playing, a secret location will appear afterwards.

Outlaws is a first-person shooter released by LucasArts in 1997 using an enhanced version of the Jedi game engine, first seen in Star Wars: Dark Forces. It is one of the very few FPS games with a Wild West setting. CG animation (using special filters to look hand drawn) sequences play between each mission and set up the action in the next area.

In GUN Showdown gamers dole out vengeance as they face-off against corrupt lawmen, a murderous preacher, a renegade army psychopath, and merciless outlaws. In a world where greed, lust and murder reign, players wage war on horseback, hold up banks, collect bounties on prisoners dead or alive, and commandeer trains as the lines between good and evil are drawn in blood.
