Ottawa Senators: Teams
built 639 days ago
The current Ottawa Senators began playing in 1992. They won the President's Trophy as the top team in the regular season in 2002-2003. Some of their best players have included Daniel Alfredsson, Alexei Yashin, Marion Hossa, and Dany Heatley.
The Ottawa Senators entered the NHL in 1992 as an expansion team. They are one of only six remaining Canadien teams in the NHL. In their short history they have no Stanley Cups but have won their division four times. Led by captain Daniel Alfredsson, the Senators haved clinched a spot in the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Ottawa Senators Tickets Over fifty years after the Senators had left Ottawa, a local group comprised of Bruce Firestone, Cyril Leeder and Randy Sexton got things in motion to bring an NHL franchise back to Canada's capital. The trio had access to land in the Ottawa suburb of Kanata and the National Hockey League was looking to add two new expansion franchises. Even though the financial stability of the group was questionable, the NHL awarded a team to Ottawa and the Senators began play in 1992. They opened up in the downtown Civic Center, facing off against the Montreal Canadiens. In what would be one of the biggest upsets, the Senators defeated the Canadiens 5-3 in front of a packed home crowd. The Senators though would suffer through a miserable season (one of few to come) as they did not win on the road in 39 games.

In the playoffs, Ottawa's first-round opponent was the fifth-ranked Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Senators won easily four games to one, including a 3-0 win in the fifth game. In the second-round against the New Jersey Devils, the Senators again won by a score of four games to one. In the Conference Final, the Senators faced off against the Buffalo Sabres, to whom the Senators had lost in the 2006 playoffs. The Senators took the series, the first series win by the Senators against the Sabres, again by a score of four games to one, earning the Prince of Wales Trophy as Eastern Conference Champion and advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals, to face the Western Conference champion Anaheim Ducks. Daniel Alfredsson scored the series-winning goal, (see video) in overtime, redemption for being beaten a year before on the goal that eliminated the team from the playoffs.
Hockey betting fans know that the Ottawa Senators were a straight up success and a hockey betting success for those betting NHL games in 2006. When the senators made it all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals it was great news for hockey betting fans before Anaheim routed them. The Senators were a solid team going 45-37 against the hockey betting odds last season. More of the same can probably be expected this season.

Surprisingly for such a somewhat dull town, the following for the Ottawa Senators is huge. Some people come to games dressed up as Roman Legionaries (to set the record straight senators are not cool romans they are old guys in robes, which is their primary fan base) or dressed completely in red, the red symbolizing the Senators' jersey colours and the contrast from the Maple Leafs' Blue. Moderately intelligent, the so called 'Ottawans' grow increasingly insane as their team wins, and have been known to lose it so completely when the Sens win over the Leafs they actually become interesting.
